In New York state, a lawsuit arising for personal injuries arising out of a motor vehicle accident must be filed within three years of the date of the accident. The state of New Jersey, it must be filed within two years of the date of the accident and in the state of Pennsylvania it also must be filed within two years of the date of the accident.

The statute of limitations is very important as if the claim was not filed within the appropriate statute of limitations, your right to file a claim will be forever barred by the statute of limitations.
